Welcome to Public Speaking Tips
In high school a teacher assigned us the task of doing a presentation. While I was a precocious and chatty teenager, I was absolutely terrified about doing a presentation in front of the class and almost fainted when I actually delivered it.
I then entered a career in which I was expected to be a spokesperson for our organization to the media, community groups, schools, etc. Imagine my glee when I was forced to face my terror about speaking. I survived but, did not thrive.
A few years later the company I was with started a Toastmasters club. I decided I had to join. I have now been an active member for over 20 years. I not only overcame my terror/phobia. I am now comfortable with and even seek out the opportunity to do training or presentations.
I would like this blog to be a place for people to share ideas for overcoming fear of speaking in public, great resources and tips for great presentations and training sessions. I welcome ideas, suggestions, experiences from all those interested in or plagued by this topic.
